So today I'd like to do a little PSA about the wonders of Jetsetter. For those of you who don't know, Jetsetter is the travel section of the Gilt sample-sale-empire. Like Gilt, it offers flash sales of amazing hotels around the world, but it also offers hotels at on-going discounted rates.
Mike and I booked our first Jetsetter vacation a few years ago, and since then we have been hooked. To date we've stayed at hotels in Barbados, Taos, Palm Springs, Tobago and last weekend, in Carmel. The thing that we love about Jetsetter is that it's like having your best friend give you a recommendation. They provide a thorough review, as well as sections entitled "What we Love" and "What to Know" that are always spot on. For example, if they say "It's a quiet resort and surrounding businesses close early," there is not going to be any nightlife. Mike and I rely on these reviews when making our reservations and we have never been disappointed.
They also offer luxury houses across this world. We chose this option when we went to Tobago and it's a great way to stay with a large group of people, and get an even better rate.
We've passed along our passion for Jetsetter to my brother and his fiancé who recently stayed at a new resort in the Dominican Republic that was on a ridiculous Jetsetter sale. They absolutely loved it and swore it was the deal of the century.

I highly, highly, highly recommend using Jetsetter for any of your travel needs. And to that point, I also highly recommend booking a trip to the Carmel Valley Ranch. It is absolutely gorgeous, with amazing hiking trails and a fabulous golf course.
(A view from the hike, and a view from the Pete Dye designed golf course…impress your man with that stat).
The staff couldn't be friendlier and the food is incredible. Chef Tim Wood actually came out to find us after our dinner and apologized for not stopping by our table to check in on us! (What?? We are not that fancy). He even brought us a container of their garlic sea salt and chatted about farm-to-table cooking. It was unreal.
(The first morning when I got tricked into wearing wedge booties for a hike and the farm).
(Fire pits for early morning coffee or late night s'mores, and one of the many tree swings on property).
And the best part? They have complimentary s'mores every night in the gorgeous fire pits around the pool AND tree swings across the property.
The resort is a 10-minute drive from Carmel-by-the-Sea which is an adorable little town with some great restaurants and art galleries. And those art galleries? They have wine tastings. Nuff said. It's also a five-minute drive from Carmel Valley Village which is full of "tasting rooms" from different wineries. What is a tasting room? Basically, California wineries set up little stores where you can go taste their wines without having to visit the vineyard. On Saturday we did a little tasting room crawl (several of them were complimentary thanks to the resort) and got to learn a lot about the wines in California. We also stopped for some shopping and old car perusing (I'll take this one thank you very much…).
All in all, it was a really relaxing long-weekend. I can't recommend Jetsetter and the Carmel Valley Ranch enough. Definitely check them out if you're thinking of a weekend in California!
