It's day four of our Essential 20 series and today we are talking shoes and pants.
The black pump is fairly self-explanatory, but let me say two things about it. One, a pointed toe makes your legs look longer and nobody will turn that down. Two, this is a splurge worthy item. I personally love the Manolo BB (and so does Oprah...so you know it's legit).
Because my dress code is more casual, the bootie is my go-to work shoe. It adds just enough height to be flattering, but it is also surprisingly comfortable. My advice on the bootie? Buy one with a wider opening so your ankle looks smaller in proportion. If you have one with a tighter opening roll your jeans to off set the look (like this).
Even if you are in the anti-skinny jean camp (which is totally understandable), you should have at least one pair that you can tuck into tall boots. I mean, have you experienced the pain of trying to stuff a bootcut jean into a riding boot? I'm partial to Rag & Bone but Old Navy has some killer washes for under $50.

Ok. So I have been wearing camo pants since high school when I raided my (skinny) dad's closet for football games. In fact, I'm fairly sure the ones I just bought from J.Crew were cut from that exact pair.
I love camo because it can be treated like an animal print. Essentially, it's a neutral. Pair it with booties and a chambray shirt for day. Dress it up with a blazer and loafers for a wink to prep, and go for a silk tank, leather jacket and heels for a night out. I cannot get enough of these babies.
