Let me be honest with you. We rarely have fresh flowers in our apartment. Inevitably, when it occurs to me to buy some, we are heading out of town the next day and I don't. Thus our vases end up sitting in our apartment looking very sad.
Like this. Finally, I had had enough. After getting some inspiration at West Elm I decided to make our own paper flowers. As a disclaimer, I'm fairly DIY impatient. However, this was so easy and fast that I guarantee anyone can do it.
A few notes...
- I highly encourage mixing several different colors of tissue paper. It helps highlight the different layers.
- The bigger you make your original square, the bigger your flowers will be.
- You don't have to use a straw, but it makes it a lot sturdier.
