How to Look Expensive

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a book signing for Andrea Pomerantz Lustig's new book How to Look Expensive. I purchased the book a few months ago and let me tell you, as someone who counts Blistex among my must-have beauty items, this book is a new must-have. After years as a beauty editor Andrea shares real-life, wallet-friendly tips in this easy-to-read manual that is chalked full of advice. In regards to the title, Andrea says:
"I also think it's important to take a closer look at my title, How to Look Expensive. Notice that I didn't call it How to Look Loaded or even How to Look Rich. That was very deliberate because to me, looking expensive is about looking chic and understated, polished and professional, your personal best. It's not about being flashy or a show-off or showgirl (that's a different kind of expensive). It's luxe, not loud. More Paris, France, than Paris Hilton."
My favorite part was her splurge/save feature that matched up pricey makeup products and their wallet-friendly cousins. I am not ashamed to admit that I took my book to Duane Reade, and stood there like a dork with it open searching for her recommended picks. My favorite? The CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder that finally beats my stubborn shine.

I highly recommend you go out and buy the book. You will read it once, and then go back to it again and again. And the best part? She was super charming, and lovely in person. Not to mention stunning.
