In December I heard the best advice. Give the person on your list something they want, something they need, something to do, and something to read. I shared this with my brother when we were brainstorming what to get my parents. His response? "So now instead of one gift, we need four?" The kid loves numbers. Needless to say, we didn't follow it, but there's always next year.
In the meantime, I figured it could make an interesting blog series. Here we go.

Do / (Listen to...) How I Built This Toms: Blake Mycoskie
This is one of my favorite podcasts. Scroll through the archives and start with anything that jumps out at you. They're all good. This one is particularly interesting because Mycoskie is a serial entrepreneur. You'll be surprised by all the other things he did before starting Toms.
Read / Just Kids by Patti Smith
A fascinating look at New York from the late 60s to the 80s. Push through the slower parts. You'll be weeping by the end.
