I was leafing through a CB2 catalog the other day and dog earring items of interest. After about ten pages, I realized that almost every item I was bookmarking was part of the CB2 + SAIC collaboration.
What's that you ask?
Well CB2 is the hip, accessible kid brother to Crate and Barrel, and SAIC is the School of Art Institute of Chicago. A few months ago, CB2 partnered with the school to design a class that would eventually get SAIC students' work into CB2 stores. You can read more about that process here.
While the designs themselves are creative and innovative, what I love about the collection is that CB2 is making young designers pieces come to life. There are so many talented designers out there without the resources and capital to bring their ideas to life let alone to a huge market. This collaboration, and others like it, make young designers visible and accessible to millions.
